New York started as New Amsterdam, a Dutch tradingpost in 1624. In 1664 (between 1673 and 1674 when the Dutch got it back Nieuw Oranje = New Orange) it changed into New York. New York City (NYC) to be exact, it's the capital of the state New York. It was the United States capital from 1785 to 1790. It's the biggest city in the USA since 1790 and it's also the most linguistically diverse city in the world, more than 800 languages are spoken in New York.

Ferry is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York City as it provides unsurpassed views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and lower Manhattan. Located in central Staten Island, the 25 kmē Greenbelt has some 35 miles (56 km) of walking trails and one of the last undisturbed forests in the city. Designated in 1984 to protect the island's natural lands, the Greenbelt comprises seven city parks.
